As a death doula, I will support the dying person in non-medical ways to ensure their needs are met and wishes are honored. I will work alongside hospice teams and medical staff to provide a person centered and holistic approach to create a bond with the client, offer respite to care givers, vigil at the dying person’s bedside, assist with end-of- life planning if requested and legacy planning if requested.
Death Doula
This is offered as a respite option for care givers of elderly people and those with medical issues. We can also visit those who may live alone or in a facility and may need extra socialization or support. During this time, we can assist with small household chores and errands, simple companionship with everyday activities such as playing cards, crafting, watching movies, and reading. This is not a medical role. We do not offer services such as bathing the client, administering medication, incontinence care, changing or cleaning any bags or tubing, checking blood sugar, blood pressure. We are not certified home health-aides nor do we have any other medical experience or knowledge beyond CPR and First Aid training from The American Heart Association.
